Turner Classic Movies is running a retrospective of classic Disney live action films throughout December, including great stuff like The Black Hole, 20,000 Leagues, The Apple Dumpling Gang.

There's also a new documentary about these films. Here's the full schedule:

The Hailey Mills Parent Trap is one of my most favorite movies ever.

It's surprisingly long also.

We watched the documentary and it was quite good, but it didn't mention The Black Hole at all! They just went straight for Tron as their post-Star Wars sample. I was bummed.

Black Hole action figures! Check out the sexy body on Ernest Borgnine, eh?

I think they assembled Ernest with the torso upside down.

OK, if they are going to remake The Black Hole, are there any design elements they need to keep? Should we see those double-guns (whatever those things were called) that they all had? What about Maximilian - should he be re-designed?

Also, I'm guessing that the long CGI shot they're referring to in that article was the opening credit sequence?

Apparently The Black Hole is gonna be playing at the Arclight Hollywood on Monday August 23rd, and I'm thinking I may have to be there for that. Believe it or not there's already about 30-40 seats sold, even though it took a little digging to find that link on the Arclight's website. Anyone else have any interest?

I think I've made my thoughts on "The Black Hole" clear. However, I'll most likely be going to "The Rocketeer", and will MOS DEF hit "20,000 Leagues", which I've never seen on the big screen.

Did anyone else notice the Black Hole poster in the new Tron Legacy trailer they showed at Comic Con?

Good catch - I did see that BLACK HOLE poster in the trailer.

I'd be up for going if you guys are getting tickets....saw it in the theaters way back when. One of my first great movie freak-out moments was when they pulled the mask off one of the crew.
